The flat pass is one of the basic engraving techniques. The nature of such an engraving is relatively simple. It is not worked very deeply, but it is still possible to manufacture elaborate designs such as ornaments or game scenes.

At the most, the interstices will be chiseled out flatly for this technique that is suitable for almost all designs. This is called the deep flat pass.

The flat pass is the most low-priced form of engraving, because it only works with two layers. Common ornaments for this form are leaf arabesques, oak leaf, English and fine English.
